Wedding Gift - Psalm 40:5

Wedding Gift - Psalm 40:5

This verse begins with the word "MANY" emphasized in the Classic Roman style with extra wide spacing. The rest of the verse is lettered in the Fraktur style, with the first phrase about His wonderful works enlarged. The couple's name is lettered in Chancery Cursive with shading and embellishment added. The roses are yet another example of God's wonderful works in His creation. Three roses are drawn here to represent God saying to us, and each one in the marriage saying to the other, "I love you!".

  • Story Behind the Art

The verse was a custom request as a wedding gift. For the print shown here, I removed the other couple's names and put Joy's and mine, with our wedding date.

An attitude of praise to our merciful, gracious, and loving LORD is essential for a successful marriage. The establishment of marriage between one man and one woman is itself an amazing "wonderful work" of God that He established as a picture of Christ and His Church. It is a powerful witness to His creativity and design. Satan, the father of lies, continues to attack God's will and ways with his counterfit definitions of marriage. May our powerful LORD raise up many more Christ-honoring marriages that He uses to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world, and raise up a godly generation to be sent out like arrows to advance His kingdom (Psalm 127; Matthew 9:38)!

    Psalm 40:5

Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
