John 3:16 NKJV
This verse is lettered in the Fraktur style, with black, red, gold, blue, and green colors. The border surrounding John 3:16 is Romans 5:7,8 lettered in light green on a dark green gouache background. The Lombardic capital is similar to capitals used in illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages.
Behind the Art
In 2005 while I was helping dig ditches on a plumbing job for Master Plumber Billy Hooper, my back went out and I was in significant pain. I had not located a chiropractor in Rockwall at that point, so I checked the yellow pages and randomly chose a chiropractor that was not too far from our home. After my first treatment, I prepared to pay and the receptionist informed me that Dr. Weddle does not charge Pastors. What a blessing that was! His generosity motivated me to letter for him as a gift the well-known presentation of the Good News found in John 3:16. I used the large first letter to illustrate the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ. The colors relate to the blood of Christ (red), the majesty of God (gold) and eternal life (blue) with two infinity signs linked together. The more subtle verse around the outside, Romans 5:7 & 8 further explains how God demonstrated His love for us despite our sinfulness. It is my prayer that each one who reads these verses would accept this free gift of God through faith. As the Lord provides, I will send free prints of this verse to anyone who promises to have them framed and hung in public settings, such as doctors and dentists offices.

Text
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:7-8
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
