I Thessalonians 5:18

I Thessalonians 5:18

  • Story Behind the Art

This verse has been a favorite of mine over many years, but has impacted my life in even greater ways more recently. Several years ago, I went through an agonizing situation involving close friends of mine. In the midst of the pain, I was tempted to be angry and bitter. This verse attacked the "infection" in my heart and gave healing and restoration. I never want to step out of God's will for my life and this verse explains one requirement to stay in God's will.

God really means "everything" when He says it. Because God is good (Psalm 100), He has a greater purpose than I can grasp. He allows each trial in my life, and giving thanks in everything shows to God that I am trusting in His sovereign care and love for me. It is an act of faith, without which we cannot please God.

This reminds me of a song sung by a family in the midst of a deep trial - the loss of a beloved son. Here is the link for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3SPnJbHG3s
