Exodus 20:3-17

Exodus 20:3-17

This piece was done in two different styles. The Ten Commandments were done in Fraktur, and the summary by Jesus of the law in Matthew 22:37,39, & 40 was done in Chancery Cursive. "Jesus" is the only word done in gold. Red and black are used for the cross. The cross is surrounded by various verses explaining the purpose of the law.

  • Behind the Art

I have been grieved to see how the USA has pushed away God's Word, including the Ten Commandments. Then I realized that I did not have a copy of the Ten Commandments in our home. God uses His law to show us our sin and bring us to Christ. Jesus did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it, so we sinners can have His righteousness applied to our account. Praise the LORD! This piece now hangs in our home above the fireplace.

In 2019, I had an interview with Pastor Joseph Parker on American Family Radio, about the importance of the Ten Commandments. Here is a link to the interview, which begins 19 minutes into the Hour of Intercession program on October 31, 2019:

Portions of verses around the cross:

Galations 3:13,24 - Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: . . . Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Romans 10:4 - For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Philippians 3:9a - And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ.
